Bear chases pregnant woman on to motorway
A heavily pregnant woman has been chased into traffic by a bear near Colorado Springs in the United States.
Ashley Swendsen, 26, and nearly six months pregnant, told the Denver Post that she was on a hiking trail near a major motorway when the bear appeared, according to Zoogle news affiliate pregnant-pauses.com.
“I thought… ‘what am I going to do?’” she told the newspaper.
She began to run, with the metre-tall bear giving chase for about 20 seconds until she reached the motorway.
“I started screaming for help, but nobody could hear me,” she said.
The newspaper reported that four drivers ignored Swendsen’s pleas for help, before someone stopped.
The bear was later tracked by wildlife officers and shot.
