Camera-wielding Orangutan shows aptitude for ape-rture
An orangutan with a flair for ape-rture has attracted thousands of online fans after posting her photos on Facebook.
Nonja’s motivation for her abstract and somewhat blurry images of her enclosure compantions at Vienna Zoo is not strictly artistic; everytime she takes a photo with her specially customised digital camera a raisin pops out.
“Of course the apes don’t care about the pictures, they are just an accidental side product,” said zoo spokesman Gerhard Kasbauer, announcing the launch of Nonja’s Facebook page.
“They just know that when they press the button, a raisin pops out.”
The photos are automatically uploaded to the social networking site via wifi. Nonja has already attracted more than 21,000 fans.
