It’s official: ‘Giant George’ is world’s tallest dog
Measuring over 220 cm from head to tail, a giant Great Dane from Tucson, Arizona has been awarded the title of the world’s tallest dog by the Guinness Book of World Records.
George is the not the first Arizonian Great Dane to be awarded this title. Previous winner Titan came in at 218 cm and he succeeded Californian Gibson, who died of bone cancer in 2009. It seems the Great Dane breed will be hard to beat.
In the past, Great Danes were used to hunt wild boars though they are now a popular pet thanks to their gentle nature. They are also known for their dignified, and some say, regal appearance. It will come as no surprise then that gentle George sleeps on his very own suitably regal queen-size bed.
Giant George has his own website and can proudly boast more than 25,000 fans on Facebook.
