Cat blamed for cricket star Swann’s drink-driving arrest
Cricket star Graeme Swann was rushing home to rescue his trapped cat when he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving early Friday morning, the Daily Mirror reports.
The England spinner was out in Nottingham celebrating his recent 31st birthday when wife Sarah called at 3am to say that Max the cat had got stuck under the floorboards, a source told the Daily Mirror.
“Graeme had parked his car up and was only a 10-minute stroll from his house. But when Sarah called he decided he needed to get home urgently, so he got behind the wheel. Obviously, he bitterly regrets it now,” the source said.
A police source told the Mirror: “He was only just over the limit. He also, genuinely, appeared to be extremely tired.”
