Drunken man charged over pig-stabbing spree
A Minnesota man has been charged over a drunken pig-stabbing spree following which 29 of the animals had to be slaughtered.
The 23-year-old, Curtis Adams, doesn’t remember the stabbings but doesn’t deny having done it, detectives told CNN.
Police found Adams in a hig barn in the early hours of 27 April, they say. According to a police statement, ”
“Adams’ knuckles were skinned up and he had blood on them and smelled very strong like pigs and had pig manure on him.” Police also performed a breathalyser test which suggested Adams was over the drink-driving limit.
Workers at the barn later discovered that a number of pigs had been cut and found a knife in nearby grass. A vet was called and decided the best option was to euthanise the pigs at a cost of almost $8,000.
Adams has been charged with six counts, including cruelty to animals, damage to property, burglary and driving under the influence of alcohol. The two most serious charges, burglary and damage to property, each carry potential penalties of five years in prison or $10,000 fine, or both.
