Horse banned from boarding train

Mystery surrounds the identity of a man who attempted to board a train in North Wales with a horse.
Animal welfare officers are attempting to trace the hat-wearing traveller following a bizarre series of events at Wrexham station on Saturday evening.
CCTV images showed the man attempting to lead the horse onto the train, only to be turned away by the conductor. He then appeared to buy two tickets, for himself and his equine companion, only to be stopped once again as he attempted to board the train.
In a further twist, the man then took the animal to the local hospital’s accident and emergency department.
But a spokesman for the hospital said doctors there had been unable to treat the horse. “Our understanding from the CCTV footage is that it may have been the same person that was at the station, but we’re not sure,” he added.
A spokesman for Arriva Trains said:“Apart from dogs all other animals have to be in a basket or a cage. Obviously it’s common sense that we don’t allow horses or ponies on the train. He tried to buy a ticket and was refused and then left the station.”
Wrexham council officials are now attempting to trace the man and the horse amid concerns over the animal’s welfare.
